Question: What's new about the version of the game that was launched on April 27, 2015?

Answer:

  • The new version of the game combines the previous Play Desktop and Play Mobile versions of the game into a single version playable in a variety of modern desktop web browsers and on mobile devices
  • The new version eliminates problems that some participants experienced when switching between the former desktop and mobile versions of the game
  • For greater compatibility across devices, some changes in gameplay have been introduced:
    • Drag-and-drop interactions have been replaced with clicks
    • A Play button must be clicked to launch some animation and audio segments
    • Some sound effects have been eliminated
  • The scores and status of games in progress prior to launch of the new version have been preserved
  • A new Mission 16 has been added, on the topic of risk and insurance
  • An updated teacher's guide is available for teachers to download, on the first screen after login

Question: What might trip me up in the new version of the game?

Answer: For players familiar with the previous desktop version of the game, there are several elements of the new version that may trip you up. We will be updating this FAQ as new issues are reported.

  • If your students do not see any numbers on the situation map, or the numbers are greyed-out, please enable missions for your classes as outlined in "How do I enable new missions?" below. This should only be necessary for Gen i classes for which missions were not previously enabled.
  • When answers require entering numbers, the game generally expects an answer to two decimal places, unless the question provides other instructions. Most questions include a formatting hint (XXX or XXXX.XX) indicating whether decimals are expected. The game will no longer reject answers that include dollar signs, commas, or other common numeric formating.
